Worker Coops and the Long History of Labour

28. September 2026, 5-6:30pm CEST · Online

When we talk about worker cooperatives and the future of work, we often start with the present: platform labour, algorithms, precarious work and new forms of worker ownership. However, the platform economy is new. The questions of work, ownership, power and agency are not. Beim 1893 Summit gibt Ela Kagel von Platform Coops eG im Panel „Community 2.0“ einen Impuls dazu, wie digitale Plattformen das Wohnen und Genossenschaftsmodelle verändern können. Platform Coops in Japan! 🇯🇵 We’re excited to bring the platform cooperative perspective to FOSS4G in Hiroshima, Japan. This keynote explores the cooperative as a third reference point beyond donations and commercialization and asks what a model built on bounded solidarity can teach us about sustaining an unbounded gift.
