At the same time, data protection problems arise because US companies can be subject to US law despite the GDPR. As a result, money, tax revenues and control are increasingly flowing abroad.
Sovereignty means freedom of choice
In the future, it will therefore become increasingly important that digital systems are open and interoperable. Data must be easy to transfer and providers must be able to be changed. We don't have to develop and operate everything ourselves - but we must have a real choice. Our data must be protected, and we must not be dependent on a single provider granting us access to important digital services.
