Der Sparprogramm-Sommer
Summer of Austerity

//DE
Berlin will in diesem Jahr 3 Milliarden Euro einsparen, in vielen Bereichen gibt es Kürzungen.

//EN
As always, June is the month when especially much is happening: we're currently preparing for a numer of events that we have the privilege to help shape. What drives us in all these events is the question of how we can continue to live and foster a cooperative and solidarity-based economy in the future. Berlin plans to cut 3 billion Euros from its budget this year, and many areas are facing reductions. Public funding is drying up or being redirected. This naturally has a direct impact on support programs for social enterprises, not only at the national level.

Since May 1st, the European Commission has eliminated the Social Economy unit from the budget of the Directorate-General for Internal Market (DG GROW). This will have consequences for EU-wide funding programs. For example, this spring, an ongoing EU call, SMP-COSME-2024-SEE, that we were involved in with an international consortium, was canceled four months after the submission deadline without any explanation. Such a procedure is unprecedented—and deeply concerning.

Now, more than ever, we are asking ourselves: how can we make our work sustainable when more and more budgets are being cut and political will is waning? This is essentially the focus of all our upcoming events to which we warmly invite you. You can find more about them further down in the newsletter.

Error 417 Expectation Failed is an independent foundation to support radically contemporary Internet art and net-based arts practices. So to speak art as infrastructure and as a resource for more art.

This call for resistance is about finding ways to challenge the current systems with the means available: misdirection, opting out, and pushing back. Resisting in solidarity with others and carving out spaces in which we can develop technological systems that align with collective needs rather than exploiting us.

Apply now until 17 June 2025 for grants ranging from €1’500 to €7’000.
